NP Plastics recently saw a long-held ambition fulfilled: we have finally embarked on our transition to sustainable energy and have outfitted our roof with solar panels.
The solar panels, made by DMEGC, are of the newly developed Mono-crystalline Silver-White/Double Glass cell type with a capacity of 370Wp, and complete with an inverter with built-in arc detection, which significantly reduces the risk of fire.
The 254 solar cells provide an annual yield of approximately 85 MWh, while the entire plant requirement of the last 2 years amounted per year to approximately 400 MWh.
We anticipate a payback period, based on the price level at the end of 2020, of 6 years or even shorter: we will be implementing further measures in the future, such as opting for fully electric machines instead of producing with the current hydraulic injection molding machines, which will further significantly reduce this payback period.
For NP Plastics, this is a huge step forward on our journey towards our ultimate goal: energy-neutral production of technically high-quality plastic parts for the manufacturing industry. And it’s a sustainable investment that we are proud of!
